To my pal an buddy, Richard Dewey,
We grew up together in high school. We were in DeMolay in Prince William Chapter.
We were suppose to go into the Navy under the buddy program. What happened? Don't remember. Didnt' see ya till after I got out of the Navy in 82.
Last time I saw ya was in D.C. for the release of the Road Ducks first album!
Life is full of suprises an some of them are ok, some are not.
Will always remember ya, Richard!!!

Richard was a great friend and a lot of fun to be around. I can't believe he is gone. You are missed

Richard Dewy (aka Neanderthal) was a great friend and a hoot to be around. We lived pretty close together and spent a lot of time together. I found out when he went into the Navy that he was a wiz at electronics and did very well.

I believe he was killed in a car accident after he got out, but I can't recall exactly.

Here's an example of the kind of craziness we experienced with "Dewey":

Me, Dewey and John Adams were goofing off and had the idea to create a movie. John had a movie camera at the time and we decided to do an action "flick" in the undeveloped area behind Dewey's and John's houses (what is now Fairmont Neighborhood Park). Back then, there were a lot of dirt piles and Dewey had the idea to be a stranded survivor in the desert. We got a rubber rat which was hollow, stuffed it full of hamburger meat and tied a long string to it. While John was filming, I pulled the string and Dewey crawled after this rat, pretending to be starved. Of course, he finally caught the rat, squeezed it hard while holding it over his open mouth and ate the "insides". I'll never forget that!

John also had a Maverick with a 3-speed stick. We'd stop at a stoplight and when the light turned green, we'd pretend the car stalled. John would film the car behind us as Dewey got out, opened the gas tank, stuck his finger inside, licked his finger and nodded that "yep - we got gas in the tank", then he'd get back in and we drive off as the light turned red again!! Just to p!$$ off the person behind us :-)

Lots of fun times with Neanderthal...wish he was here.
