James J. Galanek, 77, of Manchester died on Friday, Oct. 2, 2020, at St. Francis Hospital after a short illness.

James was born in Hartford the son of Joseph and Helen (Sampeck) Galanek and had been a resident of the senior housing on Ada Lane in Manchester for many years. He served in the National Guard and was formerly active with the Civil Defense program.

James is survived by a very dear friend, John "Jack" Halloran, of South Windsor.

A Mass of Christian Burial and his interment were held as a private service on Friday, Oct. 23, 2020. The John F. Tierney Funeral Home had care of arrangements. For online condolences please visit
