Elizabeth ”Betty” Barlow, 69, of Twiggs County, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2023.  A celebration of life will be held at Hart’s Mortuary, Jones County Chapel, Monday, December 11, 2023, at 2:00 p.m.

Daughter of the late James Petty and Mallie Stout Petty, Betty was born in Manchester, Tennessee on October 7, 1954. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She spent countless years nurturing the lives of those around her, especially through her cherished work at the Georgia Academy for the Blind. Betty's commitment to education and support for the visually impaired was not just a career but a calling. Betty brought light into every room with her vibrant spirit and kind heart, enriching the lives of all who knew her.

Betty's passion for quilting was more than a hobby. It was a way for her to express her love and artistic talent, creating beautiful pieces that will be treasured for generations. Her adventurous soul led her to explore the world's wonders alongside her beloved husband, with whom she shared many memorable journeys.

Above all, Betty’s world revolved around her family, whom she adored beyond measure. She nurtured a home filled with laughter, comfort, and unconditional love, and her guidance and wisdom will continue to resonate in the lives of her relatives and friends.

Betty is survived by her husband of 43 years, Johnny Carl Barlow, of Twiggs County, Georgia; daughter, Kimberly Snyder (Kenneth), of Kathleen, Georgia; grandchildren: Alexis, Macy, Kaitlyn, Brandon, Abigail, and Johnathan; sister, Anne Sadler (Bob), of Waverly, Illinois; and cousin, Steve Lusk (Beth).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Georgia Academy for the Blind, 2895 Vineville Avenue, Macon, Georgia 31204.

This is another sad time to lose another cherished friend. She was a lot of fun in school and all I knew loved just spending time with her. For me she took time to listen to my worries and I had plenty. Even though I haven't seen her in several years she'll remain in my heart and memories. Gods peace my lovely friend.
