John Willard Adams

John. W. Adams of Masonic Park Road, Marietta, died Sunday, August 4, 2002, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Parkersburg. He was born June 8, 1943, in Marietta to H. Howard and M. Alice Dye Adams. He graduated from Marietta High School in 1962 and had attended Washington State Community College and Marietta College. He was a graduate of the Dale Carnegie management course.
He first worked with Otto Brothers Department Store, followed by 18 years at Forma Scientific. He was also plant manager of Queue Systems and retired as plant manager of Caron Products in 1997.
He was active in the Cub Scouting and Boy Scouting programs for 13 years. He was a member of the Order of the Arrow. He was also a youth leader and had assisted the bus ministry at Norwood United Methodist Church. He was most recently a member of St. John's Evangelical Church in Lowell.
He is survived by his wife, Suzie Bumgardner Adams, whom he married on May 2, 1964; three sons, Matt Adams and his wife, Susan, of Belpre, Greg Adams and his wife Tamara, of Marietta, and Corey Adams and his fiance, Chris, with her  sons, Rogan and Reiss, of Marietta; two grandchildren, Baylee and Marshall Adams; two sisters, Betty Wheaton of Marietta and Wanda Schmidt and her husband, Floyd, of Marietta; one great-aunt, Mary Burkhart of Marietta; many nieces and nephews; and two special adopted daughters, Jamie Snow of Parkersburg and Jody Pritchard of Fleming.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant sisters; and his mother-in-law, Alice Bumgardner.
A celebration of his life will be conducted from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home. Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Gale Lauderman and Pastor Gary Drake officiating. Entombment is in East Lawn mausoleum.
