FLEMING - Daniel Lee Beardmore, 57, of Riggenbach Hill Road died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001, after a massive stroke and aneurysm.
He was born June 8, 1944, in Marietta to Lawrence and Jeanette Lennington Beardmore. He graduated from Marietta High School with the class of 1962, and was employed by Peoples Banking and Trust Co. in Marietta. He was the rural mail carrier of Vincent Route 1 from 1980 through 1993. he owned and operated The Fleming Mall from 1979 to 1985.
He loved gospel music and sang tenor with the servants Quartet of Parkersburg for 18 years throughout Ohio and West Virginia. Dale Earnhardt was his favorite NASCAR driver.
He was a member of Porterfield Baptist Church, where he currently served on the board of trustees. He was also a member of Porterfield Baptist Choir. In the past, he served as choir director, song leader, deacon, Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school teacher, and participated in church-sponsored mission trips to Honduras and the Hopi Indian Reservation in Arizona.
He was currently serving on the Washington County Planning Commission and Washington County Republican Central Committee. He served as a member of the Washington County Board of Health for 15 years.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Joan Riggenbach Beardmore; two daughters, Marnie Roberts and her husband, Brian, of Reynoldsburg and Betsy Lewis and her husband, Laurie, of Fleming; two grandsons, Corey Michael and Nathan Daniel Lewis of Fleming; his mother of Tempe, Ariz.; three brothers, Gary Beardmore and his wife, Shirley, of Tempe, Charles Beardmore and his wife, Mary Jane, of Waterford and Kenneth Beardmore and his wife, Sue, of Omaha, Nev.; one sister, Betty Delancey and her husband, Jim, of Fleming; his mother-in-law, Nellie Riggenbach of Barlow; three sisters-in-law, Shirley Reynolds and her husband, Keith, of Fleming, Doretta Rush and her husband, Glenn of New Martinsville, W.Va., and Joyce Sullivan and her husband,Richard, of Chesapeake, Ohio; and many more relatives and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Beardmore; his father-in-law, Carl Riggenbach; one nephew, Jeff Sullivan; and his childhood friend, Carl Duckworth.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Porterfield Baptist Church on Ohio 339, Little Hocking, with Pastor Mark Eaton officiating. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home of Ohio 339 at Barlow. Family committal services at Tunnel Cemetery.
