David Lee Carpenter

David Carpenter, 72, of Marietta, died Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

Dave was born December 9, 1945 in Wingett Run and raised by Zetti and Creel Carpenter.

He graduated from Marietta High School. Dave was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam as a Sergeant E-5. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 5108, American Legion Post 64 and the DAV Chapter 52.

He married Ruth Mellon on July 18, 1998.

Dave enjoyed being a truck mechanic and a construction worker. He had a passion for motorcycles, riding every chance he could get. Dave loved his special puppy kids. He enjoyed camping, cooking over an open fire, and sitting on his porch in the summertime.

Dave will be deeply missed by his wife Ruthie; children Dez Carpenter, KC Carpenter and Mikel (Megan) Carpenter, James (Angie) Smith; grandchildren Cassidy, Austin, Kenny, Clay, Brooklynn, Marcus, Risa and Camia; brother Earl (Tammy Armor) Carpenter; sister Barb Slack.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Carolyn Carpenter and Marolyn DeLancey.

Friends may call Tuesday, January 9 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-East Lawn Chapel, 27880 St. Rt. 7, Marietta. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
