Charlie Schwartz   October 19, 1944 - September 2, 2018

Charles H. Schwartz, 73, of Marietta went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 2, 2018. He was born October 19, 1944 in Marietta, Ohio to Herbert E. and Jane (Bedillion) Schwartz. He was a 1962 graduate of Marietta High School. He worked for 37 years for Union Carbide, Gulf Oil, and Chevron Chemicals as a material handler, color dye specialist, machine operator, foreman, and human resources specialist, retiring in 1999. On March 26, 1965, he and his fiance, Donna Lee, eloped to Sparta, North Carolina to be married. They were married for 41 years until Donna passed away on April 11, 2006. Charlie was an avid volunteer and gave generously to his community. He was active in Civitan – twice serving as president of the local chapter, served on the board of the American Red Cross and was active at Gilman United Methodist Church, giving generously of himself always and serving as a custodian until July of this year. He is survived by his children Brian of Oregon, Ohio, and Sheri (Allan Beaver) of Belpre, sister Elsie Bonnette of Marietta, and grandchildren Aaron Schwartz of Gastonia, North Carolina, Amanda Schwartz of Oregon, Ohio, and Samuel Beaver of Belpre, Ohio. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Donna. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Gilman United Methodist Church, 312 Gilman Avenue, Marietta with Rev. Diann O’Bryant officiating. Burial to follow in Gravel Bank Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 PM on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Hadley Funeral Home Reno Chapel, 1021 Pike St., Marietta, Ohio.
