We are saddened to learn of the passing of another beloved classmate, Sandy Turner.
In loving memory of Sandra O. Turner, 79, of Columbus OH, we are saddened to announce her passing on January 21, 2024.
She is survived by her three brothers, all of Marietta, Mike, Rodger, and Steve. and she was an amazing aunt to six nieces and three nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her parents Thelma(Seevers) and Howard Turner and her younger sister, Cynthia Lewis, in 2021.
Sandy graduated from Marietta High School in 1962 and was a proud graduate of The Ohio State University where she earned a B.S. in Education.
For several years, in the early 70's, she was a beloved kindergarten teacher at New Matamoras Elementary before moving to Columbus in 1977.
It was through her volunteer work at Central Ohio Radio Reading Service(now Voicecorps Reading Service) to assist anyone who cannot read print because of a disability.
At Voicecorps, Sandy discovered an organization that she loved and it was here that she dedicated her time and energy for the remainder of her career.
Sandy went on to become their executive director for over 25 years before retiring in 2016.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
