John moved to Live Oak, FL in 1974 where he taught math and computers for 31 years. He was very active in the teachers union and served as union president for several years. He retired from teaching in 2005. We have lost a strong leader, a motivating teacher, and true friend.

Lucy Nelle Racer (Friedrichs)
I'm not surprised that he taught math and computer science. I remember him as a smart guy. Nice guy, too. I think that we were in the same chemistry class. I remember his dad being the minister at a Methodist church, I'm guessing that hewas a good friend and colleague to those close to him throughout his life.
