Larry Curson was born in Marshalltown, Iowa on December 1st, 1941, to Walter and Ethel (Jensen) Curson. He was raised in Marshalltown where he worked various jobs during his school years, including delivering the T.R., and working at Mills’ DX during high school. Larry graduated from MHS in 1960. He worked for two years at Fisher Controls. He was then united in marriage to Judy Lynk on October 6th, 1962. Larry began farming with his father-in-law, and he and Judy lived the next almost 60 years near Green Mountain.

Larry served on the Marshall County Sheriff’s Reserve. He also enjoyed racing, spending time in the 60’s on a local pit crew, and later in life following the local racing as well as the NASCAR circuit.

Larry was a man of faith and was a life-long member of the Green Mountain United Church of Christ. Larry farmed for 18 years, until he was diagnosed with debilitating health issues that led him to pursue a hobby of woodcarving that became a life-long source of fulfillment. What began as simple whittling, developed into skilled carving that he taught himself. He was a former member of multiple woodcarving clubs.

Larry’s God-given talent has left so many with his carvings that will be cherished always.

Left to cherish his memory are: his wife, Judy; his children: Tracy (Todd) Asa, of Jackson, MN; Mike (Jodi) Curson, of Norwood, MN; his grandchildren: Tyler Asa, of Denver, CO; Tanner (Taylor) Asa, of Austin, MN; Alli Curson, of Minnetonka, MN; Drew Curson, of Norwood, MN; and one great grandson, Trey Asa, of Austin, MN. Larry was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Joan Smith; and his beloved German Shepard companions: Tiffin, and Corey.
