Richard Lifer, 65

Richard "Dick" Lifer, 65, of 304 S. 14th Ave., Marshalltown, died Oct. 31, 2007, at his home. A memorial service celebrating his life will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Mitchell Family Funeral Home.  There will be no visitations.  Burial rites will at a later date.  There will be a time of fellowship and refreshments immediately following the memorial service.  For condolences, visit mitchellfh.com.  Memorials in Richard's name may be donated to the charity of your choice.  Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Richard and his family.

Richard Dean Lifer was born on April 13, 1942, in Black River Falls, Wisconsin.  He graduated from Marshalltown High School.  He served proudly in the Army for two years and was stationed in Hawaii.  Dick had worked at Lennox for over 35 years and was planning his retirement for September 2008.

He was a member of the American Legion, and enjoyed trout fishing and snowmobiling. 

Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Phyllis (Dolesy) Relyea;  siblings, Arvid Lifer Jr., Linda Lifer Hurley, Rick A. Relyea and Tamara Relyea; nieces and nephews, Lori (Lifer) Erickson, Lisa Lifer-Murphy, Scott Lifer, Kellie Peterson and six great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Arvid Lifer Sr.

Memorial Services

Memorial Services were held Saturday morning at Mitchell Funeral Home, with Bobby Shomo officiating.  Burial rites will be held at a later date.

Groups representing Lennox and UAW #893 were in attendance.
