Richard Botts Dies As Car Falls Off Jack

Richard J. Botts, 27, 109 N. 18th St., died at home Tuesday afternoon.

Mr. Botts was killed Tuesday as his car fell off a jack while he was working under it at his home.  Doctors said he died of suffocation after one of the tires pinned him to the ground.

He was born July 18, 1941, in Marshalltown, he was the son of Harold and Edith Fuller Botts.  He received his education in the Marshalltown Public Schools and was graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1960.

On Nov. 4, 1960, he was united in marriage to Dixie Elliott and they made their home in Marshalltown.

From 1960 to 1963, he served in the U.S. Marines.  For the last 7 months he was employed by the Y & M Plumbing Co. at Brooklyn.

Mr. Botts was a member of Central Christian Church.  Surviving are two children, Lawrence Richard & Lisa Louise.  Also surviving are his parents, Mrs. Edith Botts, Laurel, and Harold Botts of Marshalltown, his grandmother, Mrs. Florence Fuller of Marshalltown, & several aunts and cousins.

Services will be held from Estel-Perrin Funeral Home at 1:30 Friday in charge of the Rev. Richard Walters, pastor of Central Christian Church.  Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens with flag folding ceremonies by the American Legion.
