James Carl Burnes, 57

Tustin Calif. - James Carl Burnes, 57, of Tustin Calif., died Sunday, June 20, 1999, at the Martin Luther King Hospital.  Services will be at the Baptist Church in Tustin.  Memorial services will be held at a later date in Marshalltown.

He was born on June 21, 1942, in Marshalltown, graduating from Marshalltown High School in 1960.  He served in the U.S. Navy, USS Towers, from January 1961 to January 1965.

He married Mary Oleson in 1963, and they later divorced.  He was employed by Dunham Bush in Marshalltown.  He lived in Wisconsin before moving permanently to Tustin.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Marshalltown.

Survivors include a daughter,Melissa (Mrs. Matt) Vargas of La Mirada, Calif.; a son, Christopher J. (Glenda) Burnes of Clinton; three grandchildren, Natalie Vargas, James and Rachel Burnes; a sister, Barbara Bringle of Marshalltown, and lived with special friend Mona Velarde for 22 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew.

He was a liver transplant patient in 1990, living a full and productive life until months ago.

Memorial services were held in Marshalltown at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 21 at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Sipes officiating.  Burial at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

 SORRY TO SEE JIM HAS GONE. HE AND IWERE FRIENDS AND TOOK CLASSES TOGETHER AND ESPECIALLY REMEMBER DRAFTING CLASS.
