Sandy Vandekamp, 55

Sandy (Mrs. Lonnie) Vandekamp, 55, died early Monday morning, July 27, 1998 at the Marshalltown Medical Center.  Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian church with the Rev. W. Willis Longer officiating.  Burial will follow in Rose Hill memorial Gardens.  Friends may call Estel-Perrin-Avey Funeral Home after 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, with the family present from 6 -8 p.m.

Born Sandra Felper on May 24, 1943 in Grinnell she was the daughter of Louis and Viola Rutherford Felper.  She received her education in Marshalltown Schools and graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1960.  Following her graduation from MHS, she attended the Marshalltown Junior College.

On April 13,1963, she was united in marriage to Lonnie Vandekamp.  They made their home in Melbourne for a couple of years and then moved to Marshalltown.  In 1984, they built their home near Marshalltown where they have resided ever since.

Mrs. Vandekamp was employed at J.C. Penneys in Marshalltown while attending college here and later for Bos Truck Lines.  On her 55th birthday this year, she retired from Fisher Controls after 30 years of faithful service.  Sandy will be fondly remembered by friends and co-workers alike as an avid crafts maker and loved Elvis Presley.

Sandy is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Lonnie who resides at their home; her mother, Viola Felper of Marshalltown; a sister, Connie Sanford of Marshalltown; a nephew, John Sanford of Marshalltown; her mother, Viola Felper and stepfather-in-laws, Wilmer and Vera Moyer of Marshalltown; two brother-in-laws, Jerry (Leah) Vandekamp of Melbourne and Jon Vandekamp of Marshalltown.  Preceding her in death was her father Louis Felper on Dec. 15, 1991.

Services for Sandy Vandekamp, 55, of 2627 250th St.,  who died Monday, July 27, 1998 at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center were held Wednesday, July 29 at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. W. Willis Longer officiating.  Burial followed in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.  Bearers were Jeff Wrage, Jim Matherly, Jeff Elliot, Travis Bitner, Terry Rutherford, Mike Powers and John Catron.  Honorary Bearers were Charlette McGinty, Diana Freiboth, Carol Weidner, Marlene Troehler, Lynnece Matherly, Chris Buckley and Peg Haskell.

Groups representing the VFW Auxiliary, Fisher Controls, Kiowa, Circle Rebbeca of the First Presbyterian Church and Iowa Veterans Home (switchboard, adjutants office, volunteer services, and data processing), were in attendance.  Estel-Perrin-Avey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Just want to thank all of Sandra's friends, relatives, and church members for all the love and support given to us through phone calls, cards, food, flowers and memorials. It's overwhelming.  No words can ever express our love and appreciation for all the wonderful tributes given to Sandy.  She truly was special and touched so many lives.  Thank you so much.  May God bless each of you always.
