Clarence J. Shepard, 63

Clarence J. Shepard, 63, of Ankeny, more recently of Southridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, died there Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2006.

Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Saturday, from the Center Street Baptist Church with Pastor Hirsch Chizever officiating.  Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.  Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Estel-Perrin-Avey Funeral Home, with his family being present from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. to greet friends and relatives.

He was born in Marshalltown on Feb. 11, 1942, the son of Emery and Mabel Dee Shepard.  Raised and educated in Albion and Marshalltown, he graduated from the marshalltown High School in 1960.  Clarence began working at the Iowa State University as a custodian and was employed there for 34 years.  The past several years he was the custodian for the president of the university's office.  He retired in 2000 due to ill health.

On May 15th, 1993 he was united in marriage to madelyn Vandeharr in Ankeny, she prededed him in death in November of 1993.

He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Ankeny.

Survivors include:  a daughter, Angela, of LaCosse, Wisconsin;  two brothers and two sisters, Gene (Linda) Shepard of Lewisville, TX., Marty (Dick) Rhodes of Marshalltown, Dale (Deb) Shepard of Marshalltown, Joyce (Mark) Ankrum of Hubbard; and several nieces and nephews.  Preceding him in death were his parents, wife and grandparents.

Services for Clarence Shepard

Services for Clarence Shepard were held Sat. morning at Center Street Baptist Church.  He was laid to rest in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were Vince Ankrum, Travis Ankrum, Michael Rhodes, Bruce Rhodes, Johnny Bums and Vern Shepard.

Groups in attendance  were from the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Ankeny and Jensen Ford of Marshalltown.
