Patty Lou Mintle, 60

Evergreen Colorado - Patty Lou Mintle, a thirty-six year Evergreen resident, died Oct. 7, 2002 at her home.

Ms. Mintle was born Jan. 1, 1942, in Marshalltown, Iowa.  She graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1960, and received a degree from the University of Northern Iowa.  For 10 years she taught ceramics, jewelry and drawing at both Wilmot Elementary and Evergreen High School.  She co-owned, from 1966 to 1980, with Denny Mintle, The Little Bear Restaurant and Bar, formerly The Roundup, then The Red Ram.  They had also owned the Upper Bear.

Patty was a member of Hiwan Country Club since 1967.  She was a three time Hiwan Country Club women's golf champion, and won various other golf tournaments throughout the state.

Survivors include a daughter, Jenifer of Evergreen;  a son, Peter of Arvada;  her mother Dorothy A. Thomas of Bella Vista, Arkansas;   sisters, Nancy Lowe-Gildner of Marshalltown and Peggy DeMars of Woodland Hills, CA.;  and nieces and nephews, there is one granddaughter, Catherine McKenzie.  She was preceded in death by her father, Wayne J. Thomas, in march, 2002.

First knew Patty in 4th grade at Glick Elementary. In sixth grade, we were both cheerleaders, along with Janice Fistler and others I can't recall. Patty's mother made our purple corduroy skirts, and we wore white blouses.

I didn't know Patty well in later years but admired her a lot in grade school. I know her family and friends miss her a lot.
