Margaret Smith (Peek)

Peek, Margaret Lynn (Smith)

Margaret Lynn (Smith) Peek passed away on July 29, 2021.  She was born in Long Beach, California where she spent the first ten years of her life.  She was invited to accompany the Long Beach Symphony Orchestra, having been a talented pianist in her youth.  Her family moved to Marshalltown, Iowa where she graduated from Marshalltown High School and met the love of her life.  She attended classes at Arizona State University while also working on campus to support her husband Jerry in getting his bachelor’s degree.  With their two children, Margaret and Jerry relocated often to advance his career.  Her fortitude was evident with every move as she researched the school districts, found new doctors, located great homes, and helped to make each an adventure for her family.

Once her children were grown, Margaret attended real estate school, in her words, “to prove she still had a brain”.  She was able to expand her knowledge with all previous moves and used her real estate license for a short time while living in Arizona.  She loved to travel, and she and Jerry were fortunate to visit many countries.  They also enjoyed Las Vegas and spent a few years of early retirement there.

Margaret loved swimming, golfing, shopping, and spending time with her family. She is survived by her children Scott Peek and wife Janet, daughter Kristi Bell and husband Alec, nephew Doug Smith and wife Karen Clarke, and nephew Reg Smith and wife Terry.  She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Jerry Peek who passed in February of this year, her brother Clifford Smith, and her parents Peter and Myrtle Smith.  No services are planned at this time.
