Tom was one of my best friends and one of the smartest guys I have ever known.  His dad, Woody was the Elmwood Country Club manager and his mother unfortunately liked to tip the bottle.  Tom took great sport in hiding her stash bottles around their upstairs apartment at Elmwood.  This all came back to me during our 50th reunion at Elmwood.  He and his family move here from Des Moines wherehis father wasalso a club manager.  Tom used to laugh about how Col Kingsbury the chem teacher, referred to him as "Wood-boy" as Tom was often the subject of the Colonel's meter stick slammings atop the black lab tables.

I write this because nothing has been said about Tom and I thought it fitting that we should remember that he was a wonderfully brillant guy and will always be remembered by his closest friends including John Reisinger, Paul Campbell, and myself.

That was a very kind and thoughtful thing for you to do Steve, May you be blessed for your kindness to your friend Tom and his memory.  It was a nice way to begin the day knowing that there are folks who take time to care for the memory of others.

I was in that chemistry class and Tom was in the front row!  Sara Neve Kurth and I were partners in the back of the room and had to put up with Gene Speer and Jim Hildabrand spraying water on us.  I never really knew Tom personally, but harbored a crush on him!
