Born on April 26, 1962, in Marshalltown, he was one of four children born to Ray and Margaret (Collins) McNeece. He graduated from the Marshalltown High School's Class of 1980. John was passionate about farming and farmed the Collins Heritage Farm near Albion that was part of the family since 1857. He was a member of the Bethel Grove Church.

Besides his passion of farming, John’s other “job” was spoiling his nieces and nephews. He loved all children, watching ISU Men’s Basketball, trying out new recipes, and time with his church family. He will be greatly missed by many. Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Ray and Margaret McNeece of Marshalltown, his siblings: Raena Carlisle of Grand Rapids, Minnesota; Marilee McNeece of West Des Moines; and Mark (Susan) McNeece of Albion; his nieces and nephews: Matthew (Megan), Blake, Brandy, Grant, Gavin and Derrick; and great nephews: Levi, Lyric and Logan; as well as his church family and many friends. Preceding him in death were his grandparents.

I remember John well from Rogers. He was a quiet but nice boy. Such sad news!
