MARTINSVILLE REPORTER-TIMES - Richard Lee Arnold, 64, of Martinsville, passed from this life on Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at 12:45 a.m. after an extended illness. He was the son of Bob Arnold and Joanne (Peters) Arnold and was born on January 6, 1951, in Martinsville, Indiana.

Richard was a member of the graduating class of 1969 from Martinsville High School. He also held memberships in the Martinsville V.F.W. Post #1257 and American Legion Post #230. He was a longtime member and employee of the Local #120 Laborers Union in Indianapolis prior to his illness and retirement. When he was able, Richard loved to dance, hunt mushrooms, fish and be outdoors.

He voluntarily enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and left for basic training the day of his high school graduation. He served his country with bravery and dedication during the Vietnam War from May 21, 1969 – December 11, 1970, and was honorably discharged as an E-3, Lance Corporal.

On December 12, 2009, he married Lisa Ann (Poe) Arnold; she survives in Martinsville. Other survivors include his parents, Bob & Joanne Arnold of Martinsville; sons, Jamie (wife, Laura) Arnold of Martinsville; Richard (wife, Donna) Arnold of Spencer; daughters, Audrey (husband, Casey) Clark of Bargersville and Whitney Huff of Martinsville; stepsons, Shane Chadwick of Martinsville and Bobby Akers of Coal City; stepdaughters, Leonna (husband, Steve) Strandberg of Martinsville, Alisha Chadwick and Chasity Chadwick, both of Martinsville; half brothers, Ed and Jimmy Littell, both of Martinsville; half sisters, Dixie Parsons of Mooresville, Pamela Roe and Judy Lane, both of Martinsville, and Terri Konijnenberg of Holland; eleven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one great-grandchild.

Family and friends are invited to join together on Monday, June 29, 2015, at 3:00 p.m. at Nebo Memorial Park Cemetery, State Road 252, in Martinsville, to celebrate the life of Richard Arnold. The service will be conducted by David Roe and will conclude with military honors being offered by the Marine Corps League Morgan County Detachment #1367.
