Samuel Johnson Swope

Samuel Johnson Swope, 51 of Brooklyn, died Oct 1, 2002 in Anderson. The son and stepson of Frances Evelyn Swope Allen and the late Anderson Taylor Swope and Charles "Den" Allen, he was born Feb 16, 1951, in Indianapolis. Swope worked for 24 years at Allison Gas Turbine and GM Truck and Bus Division, Indianapolis He was a past member of the Monrovia Masonic Lodge and the Monrovia Volunteer Fire Department. He was a softball coach for 11 years with the Monrovia Organized softball, and member of the Mooresville Golf and Country Club. He graduated from Martinsville High school in 1969 and was United States Marine Corps Veteran of the Viet Nam War.  Survivors include his mother, two daughters Shannon F. Couchenour and Michele. Kizzee, both of Greenwood: four sisters Rebecca (Swope) Kimball, Louisville, KY: Lois E. (Swope) Neitzel, Mooresville: Mary e. Swope, Mooresville and Karen (Allen) Chastain, Clay City: two grad-daughters, Samantha Taylor and Ashley Renee Cummins. His grandparents, Samuel J. and Cecila (Deck) Swope and Lois (Loy) Johnson preceded him in death. The service will be held 10am Friday at Carlisle & Son Funeral Chapel in Mooresville. The Rev. Terry Dieckmann will officiate. Burial will be at Brooklyn Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 pm today at the mortuary.
