In Memory

Kenneth-Ken Bocock

Kenneth Ray "Kenneth" Bocock of Marrtinsville VA departed this life unexpectedly at home on July 18, 2022.  He was 62.  A private memorial service was held at Roselawn Chapel on September 24, 2022. ( In accordance with his wishes, the obituary notice was held until after the service.)

Born in Martinsville on January 9, 1960, Ken graduated from Martinsville High School in 1979, where he proudly represented the Mavahi Bulldogs on the Golf team.  After high school he studied to become an Accountant and later earned a real estate license, but then decided to start a career as a driver/mover.  Eventually he became Owner-Operator and in 2018, a company driver for Service Transfer, Inc. where he was still employed at the time of his passing.

Throughout his life, Ken was known for being quite a character with a naturally sharp wit and unique sense of humor.  He grew up enjoying the outdoors camping, swimming, riding horses, fishing, riding motorcycles, going to the beach, and spending time on the family farm.  For many years he and his father, mother and sister were avid golfers and spent a great deal of time together on the course at Forest Park Country Club, even in the rain, and at times in the snow!  As a child he frequently vistited his grandparents at their house next to Martinsville Speedway.  He often explored around and inside the track and became a devoted NASCAR enthusiast, a passion he had thoughout his entire life.  Ken's naturally comedic nature, and the act of kindness he quietly showed to others, will be dearly missed.

Ken was preceded in death by his parent, Ray F. and Barbara E. Bocock.  He is survived by his daughter, Brittany Bocock, his sister Kathy Divers, his beloved aunt Anne Gore, his uncle Dan Gore, and number of extended family members and close friends.  Ken's ashes will be placed with his parents in Roselawn Burial Park at a future date at which time a private service will be held.
