After high school I attended Longwood College. Ann Pitzer was my first year roommate and really got on my nerves with her constant partying. It seemed like every sentence coming out of my mouth was "Ann! I am trying to study! Jeesh!" (smile) Then...the excitement of college foodservice came calling. I fell in love with it while taking care of the "Fixins' Bar" at Longwood...(I know...hot!)...then off to work at Hampden-Sydney with ARA Dining Services' management program. After a year I was very ready to move out of Farmville and begged to be transferred to UVA if ARA won the bid. They did and I transferred. Worked at UVA for several years..then left to start my first sales job...selling wine and gourmet sodas for a local distributor. In 1996 I went to work for Sysco Food Services selling food to restaurants. Who knew that you could make money by talking to people all day??!! I worked in Staunton for 3 years then became a district manager for the West Virginia/Virginia territories. After 3 years in that position...and living in Beckley...I was miserable.. so I left and sold pharmaceuticals for a couple of years. That was a little too boring for me and I missed the glamorous life of food sales so I am now back at Sysco selling food to restaurants in Lexington, VA....and I am very happy!
