Mark H. Stone of 985 N. Broadway St., De Pere, died Saturday, November 22, 1997.  Born in Reedsburg, to the late J. Riley and Vera (Milhaupt) Stone, he graduated from Baraboo High School and UW-River Falls.  After earning his master's degree in school administration at UW­Madison, he became the chief administrator of Weston Union High School, after which he served as principal of Mayville High School from 1959 to 1964.
 
In 1964, he came to the Green Bay area to supervise the construction and organization of Ashwaubenon High School.  He was its first principal, and was then named superintendent of the Ashwaubenon School District.  In 1971, he became superintendent of the Little Chute School District, where he remained until his retirement in 1990.  Mark was an active volunteer and served on many boards and committees at the state and local level.
 
In addition to his wife, Patricia Finder-Stone, he is survived by daughters, Terri (Leslie) Gulyas, Springfield, VA and Susan (Andrew) Crane, Duluth, GA; sons, Cmdr. Mark Stone USN (Julie), Silverdale, WA and Matthew (Sandra), Fairbanks, AK; sisters, Susan Remington, Madison, and Genevieve Schauer, Brookfield/Naples, FL; brothers Larry (Lois), Caledonia, MI/Fort Myers, FL, and Patrick (Barbara), Baraboo; sisters-in-law Marian Stone, Menlo Park, CA, and Dorothy Stone, Necedah.  Also surviving are seven grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and a brother-in-law.
 
Friends called at the Cotter Funeral Home, De Pere, on Monday, November 24, 1997.  On Tuesday, visitation continued at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, De Pere, until the time of service.
 
The Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Church, with Father Anthony Dolsky officiating. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
