In Memory

Rick Shaw

4/8/1954 - 3/24/2018 Richard S. Shaw, Age 63, of Birmingham Township, Pennsylvania, this ‘man among men’ passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on March 24, 2018. Rick was the sweetheart husband of 37 years to wife Deborah Reiner Shaw. Preceded in death by his mother Jeanne S. Shaw and brother Donald S. Shaw, Jr., Rick is survived by father Donald S. Shaw, Sr., twin sister Samantha Reiner (William), sisters Karen Weselyk, Kimberly Brumbaugh (Mark) and Jennifer Pistoria (Robert). He delighted in every one of his numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; he was also very fond of teasing his many in-laws, always with his trademark twinkle in the eye. Born in Media, Pennsylvania, Rick attended Penncrest High School and graduated in 1972 from Garnet Valley High School. He was a natural born salesman and recently retired from a successful career with Insulation Materials Corporation. Rick lived an optimistic and energized life. He cherished his wife and their long marriage, took great pride and joy in his family, and partook frequently in music, laughter and love with an ever-expanding group of friends. He taught Deb how to ride a Harley Davidson over 10 years ago and the two traveled abundantly on their bikes and otherwise. He derived great joy in gifting children with treasure boxes, aka repurposed wooden cigar boxes, containing a silver coin and a $2 bill. Family, neighbors and friends are invited to attend visitation at the Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 4 Westtown Road, Thornton on Friday, April 6, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rick’s memory may be made to the Chester County SPCA, 1212 Phoenixville Pike, West Chester, PA 19380.
