Obituary

Mr. David A. Byrne, 62, of Waynesboro, PA, lost his courageous battle with cancer on Monday, November 28, 2016 in his home. He was a long-time resident of Waynesboro.

Born November 16, 1954 in Washington D.C. he was the son of the late Charles J. and Mary Alice (Hurdle) Byrne. 

David graduated from James Buchanan High School, Mercersburg, PA with the class of 1973.  

He was employed as a quality control manager at Tyco Electronics Corporation, Waynesboro until his retirement. 

David was a long-time member of the William Max McLaughlin VFW Post #695, Waynesboro and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles #1758, Waynesboro. He was an enthusiastic participant in dirt track racing, a lifelong Washington Redskins football fan, and an accomplished bowler. David was always quick with a smile and a joke. 

He is survived by one son, Jeremy Byrne and his wife Rose Mary of Hagerstown, MD; one granddaughter, Ally; one grandson, R. Steel; one brother, Stephen Byrne and his wife Gladys of Shippensburg, PA; two sisters, Mary Byrne Wilson of Trapp, MD and Barbara Wells of Marion, PA; two sister-in-laws, Diane Arbuckle of Newport News, VA and Alma Yzaquirre Garst of Walkersville, MD; four nephews, Kevin Byrne and his wife Donna of Springfield, VA, Mike Wells and his wife Bev of Warrenton, VA, Tyler Kimmey and his wife Catherine of Leonardtown, MD, and Colin Wilson; and one niece Tonya Kimmey Fitzgerald and her husband Mike of Maine. 

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Byrne and Charles Byrne. 

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dave and Barb McCoy and Dawn North for all of their support during David's battle with cancer and to all of his BLR racing family who brought him great happiness. The world will never be as bright and colorful or laughter as sweet.

A celebration of life will be held on 1:00 P.M., Saturday, December 3, 2016 in the William Max McLaughlin VFW Post #695, 346 W. Main Street, Waynesboro, PA.
