Bernie John Wesley Miller Jr, 68, of Mercersburg, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2024 in Chambersburg. 

Born May 24, 1955 in Hagerstown, Maryland, he was a son of the late Bernie John Wesley Sr. and H. Louise Rockwell Miller. 

John graduated from James Buchanan High School in 1973 and played trombone in the school band. John was employed at Letterkenny Army Depot and later employed as a bus driver and owner of Miller’s Bus Service. John enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren woodworking and making his home his “happy place” with all his outdoor projects. John loved watching the Green Bay Packers play football. As a student, he played trombone with the school band during halftime at a Packer’s game in Lambeau Field. 

Surviving family include his daughter, Mallory (Logan) Hayes, and their children Hayden and Brailey, and a stepdaughter, Shawna (Ryan) Leasure, and their children Willow and Mason. John is survived by two sisters, Gloria J. Miller “Cookie”, and Cathy van Norden (Dave Griffin), and nieces Ashley, Emilee Van Nordon, a nephew Timmy Van Nordon, a great-niece Cressida Van Nordon, and a long-time friend, Polly Speaks. 

A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at Fries Funeral Home in Mercersburg, PA with Reverend W. David Kent officiating. There will be a visitation 1 hour prior to the service.
