An excerpt from an article written by Chad Andrews and Nick Mack:

"Diane expresses many of her thoughts in writings, and one particular thought reads, 'In my life, for the most part, I have accomplished everything I have set my mind to. I don't think I'm ultra special, just determined.' "

She was really a sweet person. I remember the day we heard of her death in Mr. Bratspear's class. We were stunned. Being the wonderful person he was, Mr. B calmed us down and got us past the anger phase and walked with us through the sorrow phase. It was hard to understand why she died the way she did. But we knew that there was nothing we could do to change the fact that she was gone; to go back in time and save her from her fate that night. We all grew a little during this time in ways that I don't think we could have through any other avenue.

She was smart and beautiful and we all felt she had incredible potential; more, I think, than most of us had. She was missed by her classmates severely.
