The reunion will be Saturday, September 10, 2011 (Homecoming Weekend). The Homecoming football game will be Friday, September 9, at Hanby Stadium. As of now, there is no official tailgating event planned. We will have a section reserved to sit in, and we encourage everyone to come out and support our Skeeters. The venue for Saturday night is at Weekends in Rowlett on Lake Ray Hubbard (see link below). There is no admission or similar cover charge. They are reserving the Crazy Horse Saloon exclusively for us from 6-9 pm. The committee will be arriving at 6 to get some things set up, and we encourage everyone to arrive around 7:00. We don't have to leave at 9:00; they will just be opening that area for the general public. Food and drinks can be ordered at your individual expense. The venue is quite large, with a stage, dance floor, plenty of tables/seating areas, pool tables, and a full bar with waitstaff. There will be a DJ and a live band. It is right next to the patio which overlooks the lake. Please note that the evening reunion is for adults only.
A few points about the Reunion and the Committee’s approach:
We are attempting to keep costs down in order to allow for as many class members to attend this event as possible. To that end, we have chosen to utilize facebook, email, and we will post to this page, the MHS web page, and run radio ads on 88.5 KEOM to market the event.
It is worth noting that there are no funds allocated for this event. Sometimes high school classes will use reunion planning companies, which will underwrite the event and charge a premium for admission tickets, to overcome this obstacle. We have chosen not to enlist the help of a reunion planning company as this would cause the expense of the event to be increased significantly. We ask that you please invite people to the reunion facebook group and communicate this information to MHS 2001 class members who you know are not on facebook.
