After graduation, I went to the University of Utah, where I lived in the dorms for a year. Yes, really. Then I served an LDS mission in the Texas Houston East mission from 1990 - 1992 during which time most of the girls I knew at Hillcrest got married. Anyway, after that I returned to the University of Utah; I graduated there with a BS in Business Marketing with a minor in Economics in June of 1995.
I followed that up by attending the University of Miami, where I got my MBA in management. Going from the "U" to the "U" was a culture shock. I went from being completely typical to feeling like the token white boy who didn't speak Spanish amidst a world of international influence. While there I assisted professors in authoring several papers. I completed that degree in December 1996.
After running out of schooling options, I came back to Utah to work for the family business. I spent a year as the Administrator of Le Chateau at Brickyard Plaza, a 100-unit retirement community. I was subsequenty transferred to the then-new corporate office where I have worked as a Community Support Specialist, general guru, and as Vice President of Retirement Living Group.
In 2013 I started my own business, Beyond Imagination Business Coaching, using the experience I gained from 16 years in the family business and the training I got from EMyth.
I began teaching at Independence University in 2014. Over the course of six years I added responsibilities including student advising and managing a team of instructors as I was promoted to Associate Dean. The school closed in 2021.
During 2022, I'm applying my experience in education as a Training Specialist for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where I'm designing training curriculum to be implemented worldwide.
I married Nicole Newman (Skyline '91) in October 2000. We had a gorgeous girl, Beth, in 2007, and a wonderful boy, Andrew, in 2010.
Since high school I've kept singing, making harmony with the Concert Chorale at the U of U, the Salt Lake Institute Concert Choir, Synergy, Mormon Youth (until it was disbanded), and the Saltaires Barbershop Chorus; right now I'm in the ward choir.
I've continued snow and water skiing, and taken up cycling to fill in whatever spare time I have. A few years back I took on the LOTOJA Classic and Desperado Dual 200-mile rides. I've also participated in several mountain bike races around the area. I am currently a member of the Aspen Hills Cycling Team.
