Voted Best Seafood Restaurant by City Pages readers, Sea Salt Eatery is known for fabulous fish tacos, the freshest oysters in town, mouth watering crab cake sandwiches and a location that cannot be found anywhere else – next to beautiful and historic Minnehaha Falls. No big surprise – class of 1990 grad Jon Blood is co-owner. And he promises to impress with wonderful food, beer and wine selections. Not a fan of fish? No worries, we have you covered. But if you like your seafood, you are in for a treat!

The historic Minnehaha Park Pavilion with huge doors that open over Minnehaha Falls has a large patio and plenty of room for dancing. On a beautiful fall evening, this promises to be a wonderful location for some serious fun! And if the weather doesn’t cooperate, we will keep the party inside.

You will receive two drink tickets an open bar for wine and artful selection of beer and a wonderful sampling of Sea Salt mastery a Jon Blood / owner special LOBSTER FEAST with all the trimmings and extras. YES - a full lobster prepared by the award winning team from Sea Salt. This is not your typical reunion - this is the class of 1990 and we are doing it right!!!  Cash bar starts at 9pm.

** Friday Happy Hour - you pay for your own drinks and food
** Football game - purchase tickets at the gate

 Friday October 8

Join the current students and staff at the football stadium for the homecoming pepfest! YES! The school is so large they hold the PEPFEST at the field. If we can get enough people, maybe our football players can challenge the current players to a tug-o-war?

After the pep-fest come back up the hill and take a SCHOOL TOUR. Walk the halls and see all the great changes and updates that have been made. The new auditorium is beautiful, and wait until you see the exchange at the link and the west building!

HAPPY HOUR! Then lets get together for some merriment at the CHATTERBOX PUB at 44th and France. Help us build and decorate the class of 1990 parade float in the parking lot and hang out with friends.

Saturday October 9

The HOMECOMING PARADE starts at 9am in the circle/link. Let us know if you plan to ride (think it would be fun for the kids) on the float, walk along or drive your own car/truck or motorcycle. The route is the same – east to Xerxes, west on 50th and then south to the football field.

Kickoff is scheduled for 11am – SOUTHWEST vs. ROOSEVELT. The football boosters do a great job putting on a big show. They also have great concessions and Southwest items for sale. We will save you a spot!

PARTY TIME – We are thrilled to have secured the Minnehaha Pavilion overlooking beautiful Minnehaha Falls for our reunion. And to have the event catered by the award winning Sea Salt Eatery, co-owned by 1990 graduate Jon Blood (there will be non-seafood selections as well as the freshest seafood fair in Minneapolis). Cost is $50.00 per person.

Starting at 9:00pm we will open the doors and invite all classes to join in the party fun (we will be charging a cover with all funds raised going towards the Southwest Foundation).

Sunday October 10

Nothing official as of now – but is there interest for a golf outing? Catching the Vikings game at a bar or someone’s home? Please indicate your interest when updating your information.

Average temperatures for the first week of October are a low of 45 and high of 65 degrees. Please plan and dress accordingly as much of the weekend will be spent outdoors. The reunion is planned to be a casual and fun event. I am wearing jeans and my SWLULT sweatshirt.

Make a donation to Southwest $20

The Southwest Foundation is the alumni organization that supports numerous scholarships for the school. The Foundation also supports various athletic programs and special requests. The school also receives financial help for staffing needs and special projects such as new scoreboards and the new auditorium. If every student from Southwest donated $1 for every year since they had graduated, we would raise over $600,000 a year, will constant growth! Can you help? For 1990 we would all need to contribute $20. But can you give $40? Please consider making a donation to your school so that for years to come other groups will be able to plan their 20-year reunion. With 280 in our class, our target amount is $5600 in financial support for the school

The Southwest High School Foundation is committed to supporting Southwest High School as it promotes academic excellence, creativity, critical thinking, life time learning skills and physical well being for all students in a safe learning environment.

Sponsor a classmate to attend the reunion $50

Please consider helping to defer the cost of the reunion for another. If you need help paying for the reunion please let me know. There will be no one that is turned away and everyone requesting help will receive it!!!
