I think of Steve every time I hear the song Mr. Bojangles by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band that was released in September of 1970. The song made it to 9th on the charts. Steve would sing the first few lines. In particular, he loved to emphasize the line "in worn out shoes". I can still hear his voice to this day. RIP Steve.
