Class of ’69 – 50th

Meeting Minutes

Committee Members Present:  Medardo de Leon, Judy de la Garza, Randy Powell, Martha Sanchez, Anna Lozano, Alma Aranda, Paulette Jones, Ramon Sanchez, Mere Garcia, Sylvia Vera, Peggy Fisher, Robert Garza and Thelma Sanchez

Next meeting:  January 5, 1019 at American Legion at 3:00 PM

 I.       Announcements:

Paulette Jones decided (after much consideration) that she would not be able to be Treasurer any more.  Thelma thanked her for her hard work during our Homecoming event.  She handled it with great efficiency and I know it was not an easy job.  Judy de la Garza had offered  to take her place, and there being no objections, it was unanimously voted that Judy de la Garza will be the Treasurer.  Thelma Sanchez will also sign on the account.  All paper work was turned over to Judy.  An account will be opened on Monday in the name of MHS Class of 69 – 50th Reunion and all checks will be payable to MHS Class of ’69 – 50th Reunion and mailed to 2603 Ponderosa, Mission, TX 78572 or Thelma at 8823 Dugas Rd., #13205, San Antonio, TX 78251.

II.          Old Business:

We went over classmates’ list and up-dated it.  We were able to get in touch with a few more classmates and some have committed to going and have sent in their money.  We received monies from  Mike Morales, Ellen Blankenbaker, Enedina Rodriguez, Steve and Jeanne Martinez, Bernie Rivera, Liz Davis, Estella Rivera and Cyndy Bartelli. We also spoke to Diana Esquivel and she committed over the phone to join us.  We have also made contact with Pam Brewer and Kiki Carrizales.  Our goal is to get at least 100 classmates there.  Thelma would like to reach 150 if possible.  Each member of the committee was asked to contact 10 members before the next meeting to reach our goal. Tickets will be issued to each person that pays and it will have their name on the back for the drawings.  That will be a part of the welcome package.

III.    Cimarron Business

The report on the venue is that we have to pay $837.16 by today and $1,674.32 by March 24, 2019.   The balance on  June 22nd.  Paulette had issued a money order for $558.00 to them and the remaining $180.00 will be paid by Judy. Thelma’s message to everyone is send in your money!

IV.  Calendar Review

According to the calendar suggestion that was passed out to the committee, we are on schedule.  We would like to have a Power Point presentation (as we did at the 40th) of our classmates and their families. Please e-mail your pictures to tfowls350@gmail.com.  We would also like to present a Memorial to our classmates that have passed.  A few activities were mentioned which we would like to surprise you with. Peggy Fisher volunteered to contact Don McClain so we can hire him as photographer.  Thelma reported that the San Antonio group is meeting once a month at different restaurants and our next one will be at Steve’s house.  Those “mini reunions” are always fun!

There were suggestions made on door prizes and so far, we have 3 classmates that have been very generous and donated some very nice door prizes.  Your help is always appreciated on this matter!  One member suggested raffling off a 3 day stay at SPI for a couple at a beach front property.  This will be done at the reunion.

We will be finalizing the agenda and continue the discussion on setting up committees at the next meeting.  Your presence is always welcome.  There is always  a little poking fun, but we are all still alive and kicking!

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
