James Kron

Dave and I were brothers from different mothers. We met at Brownings Field Playground. Kenny Zeigler introduced us. When one of us were stumped on a topic, between the two of us we could almost always find an answer. It might not be the right answer, but at least we had an answer. I first met Jeff at Garfield School in Moline. He showed his atletic abilities there. We always remember Jeff's prowess in football, track, and basketball. But, those of us at Garfield remember that he was one heck of a baseball player. Our Dad's Club team wouldn't have been the same without him. I agree that Jeff was so humble about his talent. At a recent reunion I brought up Garfield and asked him if he ever raced Juanita Bowens, a girl with all the abilities of Jeff. He said that Miss Maynard, our coach, did set up a race. I asked who won? Jeff sort of sheepishly said "I did." He realy was a good guy. He will be missed.
