Philip Bowman

Mr. Philip Lee Bowman, 70, of Moline, died at 9:20 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018, at Marigold Health Care Center, Galesburg.

He was born Dec. 31, 1947, in Kewanee, the son of Francis George and Mary Elizabeth Moffitt Bowman. He married Angela Matthews; they later divorced but remained great friends.

He is survived by his two daughters, Catherine (Jeremy) Stewart of Nashville, Tennessee, and Jacqueline McGinnis of Seaside, California; his brother, Michael Bowman of Florida, and two grandchildren, Gabriel and Theresa McGinnis. He is preceded in death by his parents and his ex-wife, Angela Matthews.

Phil had served in the Army National Guard.

He worked as a mechanical engineer for TRANE from 19 to 2000 and Modern Woodmen of America from 2001 to 2017. He retired in February of 2017. He lived in Galva and Moline area. He graduated from high school in 1965 and had attended Black Hawk College. Phil enjoyed automotive repair and painting. He loved communicating with his HAM radio. Phil also enjoyed mechanical engineering inventions, woodworking and metalworking.

Memorial Services are scheduled for 1 p.m., Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the First Baptist Church, 1901 29th Street, Moline. Cremation will be accorded. Memorials may be made to the local STEM program. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com

Phil was one of my best friends since 6th grade when he moved to Moline. I do not know his cause of death but he was a great guy.

His parents were my neighbors in Moline .  Phil would come by with his kids.  They ended up buying my childhood home which they sold after the divorce.  Phil had a very sweet personality.  He was pretty smart! ( he had to be....his mom was a teacher!!
