David Kinsey

David K. Kinsey, 61, of Rock Island, passed away Sunday, Aug. 9, 2015, at UnityPoint Health-Trinity Rock Island.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Entombment is in the Calvary Mausoleum, Rock Island, where military honors will be presented by Moline American Legion Post 246. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to a fund for David's grandchildren's education.

David Kinsey was born Dec. 18, 1953, in Moline, a son Kenneth Sr. and Dorothy Nelson Kinsey. He married Laurie L. O'Melia on April 6, 1985, in Moline.

David served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. Following his discharge from the service at Ellsworth Air Force Base, Piedmont, S.D., he remained out West becoming a rancher and a bull rider in the rodeo circuit. David later attended the law enforcement academy and was a marshall with the U.S. Marshall Service. He retired from Jewel Food Inc., Moline, where he worked for 30 years. He also worked part-time as a bartender at the iWireless Center for 20 years.

He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. David enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing, but his greatest love was for his home and family.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Laurie; daughters, Michelle (Dr. Michael) Hahn, of Bettendorf, and Kira Stiles, of Rock Island; grandchildren, Olivia Mohr, Petra Hahn, Erik Hahn, Ava Hahn and Daniel Stiles; brothers and sisters, Kenneth (Lorraine) Kinsey, Jr., of Viola, Connie Fink, of Colona, Susan (Michael) Beard, of Moline, and Steve (Teresa) Kinsey, of Clinton, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents.
