Lewis Demetri Corelis

Mendocino Beacon (CA) - Thursday, October 21, 2010

Lewis Demetri

The sudden passing of Lewis Corelis Demetri on October 8, 2010, in Mendocino County, has stunned and profoundly saddened all who were touched by him across our community.

He was born Lewis Demetri Corelis on Feb. 24, 1953 in Moline, Illinois into a large and loving family. His parents, James and Polly (Callas) Corelis, preceded him in death.

Asked to describe him, the list is long; musician, audio engineer, writer, sage, innovator, teacher, philosopher, futurist and student of engineering. An environmental activist and practitioner, he was founder of Green Industry Aggregation, co-founder and CEO of Midwest Sustainable Energy Contractors, 2009 Moline mayoral candidate, and Future House USA-US Team Project Manager at The Learn Green Foundation. But the role of greatest importance to him was that of devoted and loving father, husband and family man.

Lewis is survived by his wife Kathleen (Nolan) Demetri of Comptche; daughter Avalon and son Django; also by his brother John Corelis, Port Byron, Il., sister Marianne (Corelis) Nichols, Skokie, Il., his in-laws, aunts and uncles, numerous nieces and nephews and a close band of cousins who saw him as a brother.

All who knew Lewis acknowledge they are better for it. A lifelong visionary, he was our constant pole star and he will be missed.

To help defray emergency services costs and provide for his family's future, donations can be made to the "Lewis Corelis Demetri Memorial Fund" at Wells Fargo Bank, or sent to P.O. Box 7337, Cotati, CA 94931.
