Mark Fahlberg

ANNA, Ill. - Mark R. Fahlberg, 59, of Anna, Ill., passed away Monday, June 24, 2013 at Union County Hospital.

He was born Sept. 21, 1953, in Princeton, Ill., the son of Donald and Patricia Fahlberg. Mark resided in Anna with his wife Sheree for the last 37 years.

Mark served in the Army between 1972 and 1974. He graduated from Southern Illinois University before becoming a physical education teacher at Century High School in Ullin, Ill. He taught school for 31 years before retiring in 2008. He was the assistant treasurer for The Friends of Stinson Library Board and a lifetime member of The Fitness Forum.

Mark enjoyed being outdoors, walking, playing tennis, vacationing and spending time with his friends, family and all of his past students. Mark was a family man and loved his family with all of his heart.

Survivors include his wife, Sheree Fahlberg of the home; two sons, Zach Fahlberg and wife Amanda of Jonesboro, and Todd Fahlberg of Hot Springs; his mother, Pat Fahlberg of Anna, Ill.; his sister, Nora Fahlberg and husband K. Gendo of Atlanta; and many friends.

Mark was preceded in death by his father, Donald Fahlberg.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Blue Boar Restaurant in Cobden, Ill.

Memorials may be made to the Friends of Stinson Memorial Library at 409 S. Main St., Anna 62906.

Cremation services will be handled by Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
