He was born Jan. 1, 1952, in Davenport. He graduated from Moline High School in 1971. He was an iron worker by trade. He has six children; 13 grandchildren. His children are Dwylan Jr., Anna Texas, Frank, Nathaniel and Brittney Johnson, of the Dallas area, and Derik Johnson, Rock Island and Darci Redman, Milan. He is preceded in death by his parents, Hollis and Willyne Johnson and sister, Maryanna Brockman. Siblings are Shirley Holden, Carbon Cliff, Dana Johnson, East Moline, Walter B. Johnson, Rock Island.
