Nancy Burke

Nancy Lyn Burke, 52, of Coal Valley, died Thursday, March 16, 2006, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis.

Services will be 12:15 p.m. Monday at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, and 1 p.m. at St. Maria Goretti Church, Coal Valley. Visitation is Sunday from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home with a Christian wake service at 5:30 p.m. Burial will be in Moline Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to her children's college fund.

Nancy was born Sept. 10, 1953, in Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., the daughter of Francis "Buzz" and Elizabeth Kaiser Schrempf. She married Dennis Burke in Moline on June 9, 1979. She was employed as a teacher in the Rockridge school district.

Nancy was a member of St. Maria Goretti Church, and a former member of Oakwood Country Club in Coal Valley. She enjoyed golfing and family vacations, especially in a sunny environment. Nancy was an avid Illini and Chicago Cub fan.

Survivors include her husband, Dennis; daughter, Kristin Burke, Coal Valley; son, David Burke, Coal Valley; mother, Elizabeth Schrempf, Moline; sisters, Pamela Baker, North Fort Meyers, Fla., Cheryl Keig, Moline, and Kristine Hunstad, Diamondhead, Miss.; and a brother, John "Chipper" Schrempf, Marshalltown, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her father.
