Amy was such a good friend, the first, and one of the few back then, to call me Allie. She surprised me by throwing a Sweet 16 party for me at her house, with Ricky's band playing (maybe they were just practicing, but I like to think they were there for my party!)
She helped me when we were house hunting and gave me tulips and crocus to plant in my gardens when the house was new to us. Our paths criss crossed over the years as she lived in Virginia, New York and back in Virginia. Sadly we fell out of touch just when she got sick and my husband had his own health problems. I learned of her death two days too late to have one more conversation about quilting, kids and good books. I miss her greatly but keep in touch with her husband, Lee and daughter, Tammy. I'm sure she is smiling in heaven because her son Norman recently made her a Grandmother, again!
