East Peoria - Roger B. Wilsdorf, 43, of East Peoria, died Thursday, April 2, 2015.
He was born April 16, 1971, in Osterkappeln, Germany, to Bernd and Rita (Czarnotta) Wilsdorf. He married Cyndi Pfau on Sept. 16, 2011, at Goblin Valley Park in Utah. She survives, along with their beloved four-leggeds, Eli and LE.
Also surviving are his parents, Bernd and Rita Wilsdorf; sister, Ruby Roberti; nephews, Alexander and Maximilian; his grandmothers, Traute (Oma) Blaisdell and Erika Wilsdorf; in-laws, James and Beverly Pfau; nieces and nephews, Erika, Erin, Lincoln, Landon and Logan; his aunt and uncle, Tina and Pat Blaisdell; and cousins, Jennifer Young, Nadia Steinbrecher, Marc Geisler, Tobias Geisler, Jodi Wilsdorf and Caroline Wilsdorf. He also leaves many other family, friends, and loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his partner, K-9 CSM Storm #3242, his maternal grandparents, Erich and Maria Czarnotta, and his paternal grandfather, Harro Wilsdorf.
Roger was a United States Army Veteran, serving with the 101st Airborne Division during Operation Desert Storm and Operation Desert Shield. He was the recipient of an Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudia Arabia), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kuwait), Army Presidential Unit Citation, as well as multiple other commendations.
He previously worked with the Morton Auxiliary and Hinckley Police Departments. Roger was employed as a Police Officer with the East Peoria Police Department since 1996. During this time, he received a Purple Heart, Roese Award, and Life-Saving Award, as well as multiple other commendations. He served as a K-9 Officer with K-9 CSM Storm #3242 from 1996 to E.O.W. Aug. 7, 2006. He also was the founder and CEO of Storm Training Institute.
Roger lived life to the fullest, loved deeply, laughed every day, and there was nothing he could not do.
Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. A celebration of life gathering will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 9, at Farmdale Reservoir, 819 W. Bittersweet Road, Washington.
