Timothy Erlandsen

1939-2002

Widow Parvin Erlandsen, 1123 Colorado Avenue, Glenwood Springs, Colorado 81601

Tim’s love for skiing and cross country drove him to Colorado where he entered the University of Colorado in Boulder while he was playing every free moment of his life on the mountains skiing or mountain climbing. He did manage to graduate in financing and business after five years.
Soon after that, he volunteered to joint the Peace Corps, where he served in Liberia as a cost accountant teacher at the University of Liberia. Then her returned home in Colorado where he was hired as an auditor for a CPA firm in downtown Denver, and later for the city and county of Denver.

In 1969 Tim and I met and after a short time we were married in Golden, Colorado. In 1970 we moved to the western slopes of Colorado where Tim worked for Colorado Mountain College in Glenwood Springs as their assistant business manager. He always worked and played hard.
In 1971 our first child, a boy, was born, and in 1978 our second child, a girl, was born. Our son went to finish his master’s degree in music from Yale University, and our daughter has her bachelor’s degree from Mesa College in marketing. Both of our children are married and we have a beautiful granddaughter who is now two and a half years old.

The sad thing is that the love of my life Timothy lost his life to a stroke in January of 2002.
Tim was a wonderful person who loved life and loved spending time with his family. He loved the outdoors, and Colorado became his home.

He often talked about his experience at MHS. He wanted our son to attend the school, but our son did not want to leave home at that time.

Tim was a free spirited man, and a very smart man. He had many talents and interests. He traveled many places in the world, including Iran, where I am from.

He is my hero and I miss him a lot. Our world would be a nicer place if we could have more of Tim to go around. I would like to be there with Tim to celebrate the reunion, but for the time being I just send this message to you all.

I was a good friend of Tim Erlandsen at school.  I lost touch with him after we graduated.  My fondest remembrance of him was when we both rode our bicycles home to Long Island after school was out after our senior year.  We took two days and had a great time.  We took the ferry from Bridgeport, Conn., to Port Jefferson on Long Island.  Tim was also an excellent cross country runner- I think he was the second or third on the varsity cross country team.

After my freshman year at Brown Tim and I went down to Wichita Falls Texas for the summer. We worked for an oil drilling company, Schultz and Brannon in Throckmorton County, as roustabouts in the oil fields. We did all kids of general work like painting oil tank batteries, laying pipe line assorted other tasks. We had a great lifetime experience but for what ever reason lost contact after  a period of time. He was a good man.
