Judith Spencer (Burbank)

Judith Spencer Burbank '57 passed away 3/8/2023.  Her NMH survivor includes her sister, Cynthia Spencer '52.

Ms. Judith S. Burbank, a lifelong resident of Berkshire County, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 due to complications of Multiple Myeloma, just two weeks shy of her 84th birthday. Judy lived her early years in Adams; married, raised her family and lived most of her life in Pittsfield and Richmond; and had recently moved to Kimball Farms in Lenox, MA All those who knew Judy would say that she sparkled. Judy was always stylishly dressed, with impeccably done nails, and full of positive energy which she shared generously with a truly remarkable group of devoted friends, her family, and numerous community organizations. Judy served as Chairperson and member of the Richmond School Committee, President of Junior League Berkshire County, and was a longtime board member of Zonta Club of the Berkshires. Judy was a member of the Country Club of Pittsfield for 70 years where she served on multiple committees and chaired the very popular Ladies Invitational for many, many years. She loved golf, tennis, exercise classes, travel, peanut M&M's, chocolate chip cookies, and an evening glass of Pinot Grigio. Above all, Judy treasured her time with family at Cook's by the Ocean in Wellfleet, MA, gathering lucky stones and spending time with her far flung children, siblings, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and their children, and children's children. Judy graduated from Northfield School for Girls in 1957, attended Wheelock College until she married in 1959, and took classes at Berkshire Community College. Judy worked in real estate with Robertson & Quinn Realtors, was a travel consultant with Small World Travel, was a Division Manager with Ski America Enterprises, and worked for Cranwell Development Corporation as a Buyer/Builder Coordinator. Most recently, until well into her late 70's, Judy had a job she truly loved as a kindergarten teacher's aide at Morris Elementary School in Lenox. Judy is survived by three children: Kimberly (Paul) Petricca, Spencer (Nicola) Burbank, and Mark (Amanda Foley) Burbank, her very special grandchildren Zack and JP Petricca, Ella, Frankie, and Willow Burbank; her sister Cyndie Spencer (Denny Lund); her nieces and nephews Ann Marie (Scott) Miller, Kathy (Fred) Erickson, Andrew, Paul, and Julia Lund; 3 great nieces, a great nephew, and a great great nephew. Judy is also survived by an extraordinary group of close friends of many years who were a steadfast and loving source of support throughout her life. Besides her parents J. Haines and Pauline Simmons Spencer, Pat Swan, and Louise Wright Kellogg Spencer, Judy was predeceased by her infant daughter Heidi Burbank, and her brother Jack Spencer and sister in law Judy Leahey Spencer of Stockbridge, MA. Our family is very grateful to the staff at Kimball Farms, Kimball Farms Skilled Nursing Center and Hospice Care in the Berkshires for the skilled care and kindness provided to Judy in her final weeks. Funeral Notice: A memorial celebration will be at a later date at the Country Club of Pittsfield.
