Mathew Manning

Mathew Manning, 35, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, IA, passed away at his home in North Liberty, IA on Saturday, December 5, 2015.

A visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m. on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church where the family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. that evening. A funeral service held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 11th at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church with the Reverend Joseph Phung officiating. Interment will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Memorials have been established to the Wounded Warrior Project and Johnson County SEATS. 

Born November 28, 1980 in Mt. Pleasant, IA, Mathew Brandon was the son of Ernie Eugene and Donna Jo (Wells) Manning. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant Community High School in 1999 where he participated in wrestling and football. On August 16, 2014, he married Katie J. Foubert in Cedar Rapids, IA. 

Early in his career, Mat worked in construction. He was a correctional officer at the Mt. Pleasant Correctional Facility, and then at the Oakdale Iowa Medical Classification Center where he was a Cert Team Officer, a personal safety instructor, and a CPR instructor. He had been a driver for Johnson County SEATS. 

Mat was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, camping and playing golf. He loved to race 4 wheelers and enjoyed bicycling. A skilled handyman, he could build anything and was often asked by others to fix things. He volunteered with wrestling programs for youth. He loved cooking and spending time with his family and friends. He loved all dogs. 

Survivors include his wife, Katie; two stepchildren, Ethan Kupka and Ella Brandt all of North Liberty, IA; his father, Ernie (Kelley) Manning of Mt. Pleasant, IA; his mother, Donna (Dennis) Maloney of Lakeworth, FL; three sisters, Bobbie (Mark) Sieren of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Jamie (Joe) Guerra of San Antonio, TX, and Mindie (Mike and Mikah Duke) Manning of Cedar Rapids, IA, his grandparents, Jerry and Georgine Wells, and Beaulah Manning all of Mt. Pleasant, IA; his mother-in-law, Vicki Foubert; a sister-in-law, Tabby Foubert both of North Liberty, IA; and many other family and friends. 

Preceding him in death were his grandfather, Earl “Bud” Manning; and his father-in-law, Jerry Foubert.
