I remember Alan as having a funny side. School was not his favorite thing. I believe he may have never fully recovered from injuries he received from being shot at the BP station in Fern Creek where he worked. His life was cut too short.

I remember in elementary school Alan invited me over to play at his house. He didn't want me to leave. He kept offering me ice cream if I would stay. He so sought to be friends with me, though i'm afraid I didn't show him the kindness he had shown me. I had seen him at different times after high school, and he still wanted to be friends. He had a good heart. My heart breaks to hear that he is gone.

Alan and I rode the same bus through elementary and middle school. He was certainly a funny guy. We also worked together several years after graduation. He was always kind to me, and could always make me laugh.

A couple of years before he died, Alan was dating a friend of mine and we all got together and went on a ghost run. We had so much fun that night. He struggled with his injuries from the shooting, and when he died, it was really sad news. I wish I could have been a better friend to him.

I will always remember Alan's smile and his laugh. He was always joking and laughing. He kept us entertained in the 8th grade in Mrs. Small's class all the time. He was always talking back to her and asking her stupid questions to get her confused and off track. It always worked too.
