When I found out about Carl's passing, I was literally in shock. We were both living in Denver in 2008. Both of us had the same circle of friends, and sadly could have been sitting in front of each other at some point.
Carl was my gaurdian angel. If not for him, I dont think I would be here today. He was my first heartbreak, but only because he refused to see me get punished being with him.
I was so happy being his girlfriend when we were in Central Middle School. My fondest memory of Carl was during spirit week in 8th grade. He bought tickets to the C.M.S talent show. You guys remember that? Aaron Holst, Jeff Martin, Joe Rodriguez, and Jim Wiley did their rendition of Van Halen's Jump!!! Carl and I sat there just cracking up watching Jim jumping around the stage.
Another time, I remember lying to my mom in order to meet him at the public library. The only way she would let me go was if I took my little brother with me. Carl met us there and tried to find ways to distract my brother just so we could sneak off upstairs. That was my first kiss,,,, and yes, my little brother caught us. I was blackmailed for about two weeks after that! LOL!!!!
Carl always had a mischievious look in his eyes, and he just loved to test his limits with any authority figure. In realitty he was just trying to find himself.
Recently I made contact with his younger brother and that just made absolute sense to me. Carl has always been a part of my life even after we parted ways and now he is in a better place smiling down on me and saying, "See, I told you I would always be there for you."
