Jean was born on July 31, 1946, in Muscatine, the daughter of Frank K. and Mavis L. Koepping Kemper. She married Roger Brown on June 21, 1981, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He preceded her in death on September 3, 2003.

Jean was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Jean and Roger met in 1975. In 1978, they opened ‘The Pantry’, a well-known convenience store, deli, and gas station in southend Muscatine. They ran the store until 1991, when they closed the store. After the closing of the store, she was the accountant for First Presbyterian Church for many years. When she semi-retired, she continued working at Younkers for several years.

Jean enjoyed growing up on the southend Kemper Farm. She dedicated her life to taking care of her family. She was the sole caretaker for her husband, father, and mother in their final years. Jean was an animal lover and made it her passion to rescue cats in her later years. She enjoyed playing games and bird watching. She had a special bond with grandson, Kemper, spending many days with him since his birth.

Jean is survived by children, Korey Bunn and wife, Lisa, of Muscatine, and Tammy Torsch and husband, Marshall, of Taylor Ridge; four grandchildren, Holly Bruns and husband, Nick, Griffin Bunn, Kemper Torsch, and Kiedyn Torsch; great grandson coming in June; brother, Dave Kemper and wife, Pattie, of Colorado Springs; and lifelong friends, Linda Hatfield, Melody Ann Ross Stevens, Linda McCleary Stanton, and Arlene Wolford Clark-Cain.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Roger.
