20th Planning Meeting Minutes

December 28th 2009 7:00 P.M. Fricanos on Muskegon Lake

Attendees: Shawndra (King) Sain, Misu (Knoll) Peltoniemi, Darius Palmer, Jason Crago, Idris Golden, Wendy (Gardner) Wood, April (Bartee) Taylor, Elontra Allen, Tonya (Matthews) Mitchell, Julie (Weinert) Summerville.

Business

  • Read and signed contract with Hartshorn Center for the Friday Dinner. $500 is non-refundable.
  • Received list of 5 preferrred caterers that we must choose from. Possible tasting in January
  • Agreed to mail out Antonio postcards to classmates that have not contacted the website or facebook. Mailings will go out by the end of January. Postcards have 1990's theme with website address, dates, times and contact names for early registration.
  • Updated email bouncebacks from the website.
  • Shawndra agreed to research hotel reservations -one for downtown and one near the lakes Mall.
  • All agreed to make phone calls and emails to classmates who have not yet paid for their invite. This was our quickest idea to raise $ fast. Possible raffle at the reunion for only those classmates paid by March 1st. (Get cash back on invite $65 or $40)
  • Discussed fundraiser ideas: 50/50 raffle at Big Red B-ball games, Olan Mills portrait coupons,Great Wolf Lodge or Double JJ waterpark raffles, "party" at local club or hall, Candybar sale.

 

TUESDAY February 9th 7:p. m. @ Fricanos

  • A small group met to discuss fundraising ideas. Idris Gloden, Misu Knoll, Darius Palmer, Julie Weinert, Jason Crago, and Elontra Allen. Darius mentioned he had a contact at Double JJ resort and the group decided to have a raffle. Jason Crago agreed to secure the donation from Double JJ and print the tickets. We agreed to sell 200 tickets for $5 each. The top prize is a 1 night stay and 4 free waterpark passes.
  • A few adresses were shared.
  • The group agreed to have a catering tasting very soon!!
  • The meeting adjourned around 8:30 P.M.

 

SATURDAY March 20th 3:p.m. @ Muskegon Athletic Club

  • We had a larger group for the weekend meeting: Tonya Mattews, Misu Knoll, Shawndra King, Julie Weinert, Jason Crago, Darius Palmer, Danee Means, Angelo McQuarter, Amy Brown, Cynthia Keyes, and James Spann.
  • Raffle Tickets were distributed to all present as well as those on the phone. It was agreed that no tickets would be returned, only the stubs and the money. The committee would stand to make $1,180 if all the tickets were sold. The group agreed to use the proceeds to pay off the hall for the Friday dinner. The drawing for the raffle will be on Saturday April 24th at Fricanos.
  • Misu, Jason and Cynthia agreed to set up a tasting for Above & Beyond & Tudor catering. A final decision should be made at the next meeting (April 24th 7 p.m. @ Fricanos) $13 a plate max and looking for deals on good food.
  • Shawndra presented a list of hotel block prices for the reunion. Jason will creat a link on the site listing the hotels and prices as well as links to book your room.
  • We are taking baby steps but the reunion is coming together. Congrats to the committee.

 

Saturday April 24th 2010

  • The meeting began a little late because "someone" forgot a lot of raffle ticket stubbs at home and returned to get them.  The meeting  was well attended. Jason Crago, Julie Summerville, Shawndra Sain, Marcus Longmire, Angelo McQuarter, Elontra Allen and Idris Golden. 
  • We collected ticket stubbs and counted $ from the raffle. Shawndra agreed to try and sell some additional tickets and the group agreed to pick the winners on Sunday May 2nd at the M.A.C.
  • Marcus Longmire and Angelo McQuarter agreed to cook for the picnic and there was a discussion on generating extra funds for picnic food - Hotdogs, hamburgs, flat rib tips, potato salad, and beans.

  Saturday May 22nd 2010

  • In attendance: Julie Summerville, Shawndra Sain, Misu Knoll, Jason Crago, and Idris Golden.
  • We agreed to do a mailing to classmates who have yet to join the website. We will send a informational flyer as well as a paper order form.
  • Shawndra Sain had quotes from Hearthstone and Above & Beyond Catering. The high # was around $3,000 for 150 people. We also received a brochure from Anthony's Kicking Catering in Grand Haven who were actually doing an event at Fricanos this evening. Julie Somerville will call them and see if they can beat the other two.
  • It was agreed that the members of the planning committee would send out an urgent email to those on the website who have yet to pay.
