Lori Moore

Lori Lynn Moore, 50, of Muskogee, passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. Lori was born on October 26, 1960 to Robert and Dorothy Moore and reared in Muskogee, OK. She went to Grant Foreman Elementary School, Alice Robertson Junior High, and was a Muskogee High School Graduate in 1978.

While Lori was in high school she participated in many extracurricular activities such as the All School Musicals, Drama, Music, Drill Team, and many clubs and organizations. She was also co-editor of the Muskogee High School Yearbook. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was involved in the UMYF throughout her junior high and high school years.

Lori received an associate’s degree in accounting from NEO A&M College in Miami, OK. She also graduated from Bacone College with a Nursing Degree and became a registered nurse. She also attended the University of Oklahoma and received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, OK.

Lori worked for many years in Oklahoma City as a registered nurse, and then spent many years working for the Oklahoma Foundation of Peer Review. She was very academically gifted and was the ultimate professional throughout her working career. She also spent much of her time doing philanthropic work and received great satisfaction in helping others.

Lori was a very loving and giving person who truly cared about people. She was kind-hearted and loved children and animals. She had a wonderful sense of humor, was extremely smart, witty, and thoughtful. To know Lori was to love her because you were certain that she loved you, too. She was a good daughter, a good sister, a devoted aunt, and a true and loyal friend to all that were blessed to know her. She will be so very missed by us all. We take comfort that she is in the loving arms of Jesus and is free of the worry and pain that had consumed her life for the last several months. She was a pure soul with strong faith and goodness in her heart. We will always love Lori and remember how special she was to us and how deeply she enriched our lives. Go with God, dearest Lori, and may you rest in peace until we meet again.

Lori was preceded in death by her father, Robert W. Moore, Sr.; maternal grandparents, Virgil and Myrtle Helms and paternal grandparents, William and Altha Moore.

She is survived by her mother, Dorothy Moore, of the home; sister, Lisa Moore Hurd, of the home; brother-in-law, Todd Hurd, of Fairview, TX; nephew, Jordan Hurd, of Fort Worth, TX; brother, Robert W. Moore, Jr. and his wife, Katherine; nephew, Robert W. Moore, III of Tulsa; uncle and aunt, Joe and Johnnie Ruth Moore, of Choctaw, OK; cousin, Julie Moore Williams and her husband, Mark Williams, of Choctaw, OK and many more relatives and friends that she greatly cherished. Also, Lori leaves behind her beloved faithful dog companions Riley, Nikki, and Pup-Pup.

The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Foster-Petering Funeral Home on Sunday, October 23, 2011. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 24, 2011 at Fosters’ Ivory Chapel with Pastor Rusty Williams of First United Methodist Church officiating.
